Mental shifts towards being, not doing are the true key to acceptance of Allah's Qadar.
Apologies?
Do you expect me to just sit and eat chips as I wait for my suffering to end and my test to stop testing?"
Yes and no. ⬇️
When we are tested, we tend to look back on better days, easier days, days when we were functioning better and getting more done.
Most of us get stuck in regret over losing that.
It eats away at our confidence. We find a way to blame ourselves, even when it's not helpful.
But in all that regret, we forget Allah has decreed something and we were always meant to go through it.
Emphasis on through it, as it is just a test. The first step is accepting the Qadar, and not looking back.
You can only do that by being before you start doing.
Otherwise, you'll try to go at it and do stuff as if things are still the same from before the test. It's never going to work, you're only going to lengthen the process of going back to normal.
Of course, getting through rough times doesn't mean being paralyzed and calling it "I accept the qadar", but the action required from you to heal or redirect (tests are sometimes information about what doesn't work anymore) will be entirely different from when you were still feeling great.
You'd be surprised how many of my lovely clients can't even sit down and rest without feeling guilty.
I'm sure you wouldn't want that for your daughters or nieces... so what about us?
So just be, for a bit.. Breathe.. Feel. Melt, cry, sleep, suffer. Call your mom or your friend. No judgment.
Sit with the acceptance.
Let it be quiet a little bit, before you whirl into a storm without knowing for sure if your heart has submitted to Allah and if your intentions are pure.
