Tomorrow is Yawm of ‘Aashooraa!
Time for a quick and effective 'Aashooraa boost...
Do these exercises (not perfectly.. just do them. You'll learn something new either way) and see your mind and chest expand bi idhni llaah.
1
Ask Allaah ‘azza wa djall to expand your chest and to taste the sweetness of eemaan. Fasting can be hard on the soul because of its submissive element, whilst our nafs just wants what it wants, immediately. But in the end it’s us who benefit from having power over our nafs and of course, receive rewards from The One we love to please. And we’d be surprised how easy it is to slip into simply forgetting to ask Allah for every small thing!
2
Reframe your ibtilaa:
If Allah wanted something for you right now or a while back and it’s not fitting into what you expected, you might feel down and less motivated for ‘ibadah.
It means this path is going to produce an even better outcome (unless you think Allah isn’t Merciful and is trying to take you down??), but you have to stay open minded.
If you have bad thoughts of Allah, that’s what you’ll get.
Fast with your better outcome in mind.
Write down all your fearful thoughts, all the negative outcomes you play like a movie in your head.
Find one or 2 verses in the Qur’an that imply how Allaah ta’aala is our Helper and how everything is in His control.
Pick a dhikr or du’aa that is known for helping us get our ad’iyat answered or that expresses Allah’s power. A very famous one is laa ilaha illallaah, wahdahu laa sharika llaah, lahul mulk, wa lahul hamd, wa Huwa ‘ala kuli shay-in qadeer.
Allah says I am as My slave expects of Me - and that should make us think on how we think about tests and trials, and what influence it can have on the outcome of things if we lean into the adkar we read or rather have very feeble hope in its ability to do anything for us.
And I know you might think, ah, I already worship Allah so much, why am I still getting tested? This means your soul needs more submission to Him and you need to become more regulated, so you can release control and lean into His Qadar.
Like Moosa ‘alayhi salaam in a basket on the river.. And Allah knew where he was going all along…
Regulation is one of the hardest things there is.
Mental acceptance is one thing, but a deeper form of acceptance is being able to regulate back to a balanced, hopeful, energized state.
That’s a little harder, so if you want to learn more about the keys to regulation, contact me!

Have one element in your day that gives you serious feelgood.
Talk to that one bestie, plan breaking your fast in your favorite restaurant, order your favorite dessert after breaking the fast, give lots of hugs (oxytocin!), go chill at the park, go shopping, plan an hour of journaling that gives you joy and nice feelings, …
Need more journaling exercises that help you boost your dopamine?
